Check your thinking: visual toolkit

Dr Sophie Hallett from Cardiff University approached me to help develop materials that share core findings and key messages from her research project on outcomes for children and young people assessed as being ‘at risk’ of sexual exploitation. The brief also asked for a way to help support reflection and discussion with practitioners and professionals working with children and young people.

Using a reiterative and collaborative process I drew illustrations for key messages and together with the client designed a visual card toolkit “Check Your Thinking” that uses the illustrations as discussion prompts and provides further questions and related research findings on the back. Other materials created include A4 posters and postcards for workplaces and bigger posters helping illuminate particular systematic issues.

Finally, I also animated a short video aimed at young people to let them know they have been heard, their voices have influenced policy and that there is support available.

You can find out more about the research on the project web page.
