Ada's adventures in science

Educational comic about science

Born from a scientist and artist partnership, the aim of this three-part comic book, ‘Ada’s Adventures in Science’, is to get kids excited about science and empower them to do science. I collaborated with Edward Gomez, an astronomer and education director at Las Cumbres Observatory, to create the comic as an educational tool that can be easily used in classrooms.

I came up with a character called Ada who grows up during the three stories and weaves together different topics such as inclusion, robotic telescopes and working together to make discoveries. I designed the artwork black and white to enable easy photocopying and printing at schools as we wanted the work to be free and accessible. We also ran a  successful Kickstarter campaign to print and send the comics around the world: we have sent 15,000 copies in English, Welsh, Spanish and German to schools in the USA, UK, Colombia, Australia, Netherlands, South Africa, Zambia and Nigeria. You can find out more and download the comic from adacomic.uk.
