Use visual thinking to tackle problems and demonstrate concepts

I can bring my visual thinking skills and marker pens to your workshops and ideation sessions: I have supported research and development projects, innovation hackathons, roadmapping exercises and strategy development. I have helped facilitate idea sketching and innovation processes and I have worked with service design agencies to illustrate storyboards and user personas.

This type of work is often under an NDA so I can’t show you the all the details. To give you a flavour, here are brief descriptions of what my visuals have done:

  • I delivered idea sketching sessions, drew pitch presentation materials and supported teams at numerous Geovation Camps, an open innovation challenge facilitated by Nonon and Ordnance Survey 

  • I illustrated hundreds of storyboards for research and development of better products and services for a global brand 

  • I helped support staff workshops to prototype different open working areas at the BBC 

  • I supported problem solving, ideation and pitching at Northern Water Group Innovation Festival

  • I drew user personas for a service design project about sports and engaging young people

  • I visualised a collaborative discussion about ideal master planning for a central area in a UK city 

  • I teamed up to illustrate a 3-day discussion about roadmapping challenges and opportunities for an international humanitarian aid NGO

  • I have drawn visual maps of aims, vision, values and actions for housing associations, charities, citizen initiatives and organisations wanting to involve stakeholders in decision making

FAQs

  • How can you support planning and strategy work?

    I can be a live scribe at a workshop where you discuss new ideas, directions, values, vision or processes and make it visible to help people keep focus and spark connections. I can also draw vision or journey maps that show the big picture and how things connect so you can share top level strategy with staff and stakeholders across the board. I have worked with architects, placemakers, planners, staff away days and local and national government departments. 

  • Can you run a visual thinking workshop?

    I’d love to! I have run short visual thinking sessions at universities and innovation camps, tailored to desired outcomes such as generating and visualising ideas or developing stories and storyboarding. I’m passionate about promoting visual thinking as an accessible skill that doesn’t have to be about how well you can draw and I really enjoy seeing participants feel like they can have permission to find their own way of working with visual vocabulary and visual notetaking.   • Can you facilitate a strategy session for us?

    While I have experience graphic and idea facilitation I find it best practice to work together with a facilitator. They are more practiced in managing energy and group dynamics and my visual skills can support that.
