Working digitally or by hand I draw illustrations that help make sense of complex content. I have supported cross-disciplinary academic projects and public health campaigns, drawn journey maps for NGOs and created visual toolkits for the NHS. I have created participatory arts projects, painted murals and drawn an educational comic that was successfully Kickstarted for distribution across the world.

FAQs

Can you draw my children’s book / packaging / product advertising idea?

Thanks for asking! If you look at the work on my website you can probably tell I don’t do those things. I do some editorial illustration but you are better off finding someone brilliant who specialises in the above. For events and idea illustrations, I’m definitely your person of choice.
I need campaign visuals in seven days time, are you available?

Very likely not – I prefer to work on projects with more turnaround time and I’m usually booked up a month ahead. If you can plan a bit more ahead I am more likely to have the availability.
Can you work in this style (attached examples)?

I can work in the styles you can see on my website and social media: comic-influenced and simple illustration. If you want something that looks different, for example hand drawn watercolour, you need to find an illustrator who already works in that style.
How do I get the images? How can I use them?

You will get digital files, usually both high resolution files for printing and web quality files for online and social media use. For in person events with graphic recording I can post the original piece to you so you can hang it up somewhere nice. You can use the images as agreed in the image license (read more below).
Can I just not use the images how I want?

I’m afraid not: when you commission illustration work you are asking for a specific solution. It wouldn’t be fair for me to capture a one day event to find that a quick sketch has been put to use as a logo without permission – that’s a different job altogether. Same goes for commissions: If I do one spot illustration for a specific article, you cannot use it for a different article or project without permission. So it’s best practice to think at the start of briefing how widely you might need to use the image.
